Bergen and the Fjords, Norway (2007)

We took a week of holiday in Scandinavia, starting with Bergen on the western edge of Norway.  Bergen is known for its majestic fjords—deep mountain cuts carved out by retreating glaciers.

Sea side art.

The lovely town of Bergen.

Fresh wild salmon and traditional pickled salmon at the fish market.

Carmel stands in an empty town square.

Stalwart against the rain.

Some fountain.

Setting out on our fjord tour.

The vast fjord surrounds us.

Mist setting in.

Gull looking for tourist food.

Sun peeking over peak.

Serene calmness.

Another postcard-perfect scene.

A seaside town.

We stopped at the small town of Flam.

This is Flam Bay.  Heh.

Here is a picture of Flam flan.

This is a buoy in Flam.  One might even say it is “Flam-buoyant…”

Okay if you’re not laughing, they you’re too cool for me.

Carmel enjoyed it, but personally I thought 27 was a bit much even for a piece of ass. muffin.

Now on a scenic windy train we passed a number of waterfalls.

Falling water.

Waterfall is swept by the passing wind.

And the train continued on through the wild and tranquil landscape of Scandinavia.
