Calais, France (2007)

Calais was the ferry point to the UK.  It was mainly memorable for the ferry ride.

Scenery on the way to Calais.

We didn’t have our cameras out fast enough on the first pass, so we had to double back to take a shot.

Loading the car on to the ferry.

We were dead tired and tried to sleep, but the TV screens and ferry speakers kept blaring a few seconds of a music video every minute to get people to buy the whole song.  It was so annoying to us and the largely old people lounging on the boat.  Then some guy finally paid and put on a few good songs.  This inspired some chick who put on a whole bunch of completely awful songs.  While Melanie was taking a look at the song selections, one of the boat employees came by and gave her a bunch of money to put in the jukebox to change the terrible songs.  Melanie summonsed me to help her pick, so we chose:  1) Pass the Dutchie, 2) Don’t Look Back in Anger, 3) Can’t Touch This, and 4) The Thong Song.  The last song came on right as we landed.  We fled the boat quickly, snickering.

Welcome to the chalk cliffs of England!

The continent was good to us.
