Machu Picchu, Peru (2007)

We hit up Machu Picchu for the day. Oh, and it's pronounced Peek-chu, not Pich-u, which is how most gringos butcher the name. The scenery was breathtaking and the site was beautiful. It's especially interesting because this is one of the only sites that the Spanish conquerers didn't find (and subsequently destroy) probably because it's so steep and high up in the mountains.

A view from the bus on the way up to Machu Picchu.

On the path to the Picchu.

We still don’t know where Machu Picchu is.  But, then we turn around.

Machu Picchu!

Josh’s hair resembles the wild and rugged terrain.

Carmel almost correctly pronounces it Machu Peekachu.

First, we wander over to this crazy bridge that those crazy Incas built before the crazy Spaniard wiped them out all crazily.

Carmel asks the llama, “Como se llama?”

Cheesy romantic holdyhands picture.

Looking up.

This thing is steep!

Very terracey.

Taken moments before a security guard yelled at me.

Lower Picchu.

Three windows.

Three windows, other side.

Another special rock.

More special rocks.

These rocks rock!

In case of earthquake, go under doorway.

In front of the Astrology department.

A tree.  No seriously, it’s a tree.

Studio apartments, otherwise known as huts.

The “other” Picchu.

Stuff on the other Picchu.

Someone is sleepy.

On our way back to Cuzco our train broke down.  Then when we got to Cuzco our taxi broke down.
